Perovskite materials have a crystal lattice structure of inorganic molecules together with interlocking organic molecules

Perovskites are a family of crystals that have interesting properties for applications in nanotechnology, particularly in solar cells. They have long been of interest for their superconducting, electronic and ferroelectric properties.

Since it was discovered that they are also remarkably efficient at absorbing light photons and converting them into electric current, research interest in perovskite solar cells has skyrocketed.

Knowledge of the optical properties of perovskites and the behaviour of their electrons opens up possibilities for the development of new technologies in optics and semiconductor electronics.
