Fatty Acid Metabolite Library

Fatty Acid Metabolite Library of Standards (FAMLS) is a collection of high quality small fatty acids. Metabolite libraries make it simple to locate hundreds of metabolites in metabolomics analysis, most commonly used in metabolite qualification and quantification for MS and phenotypic screening.

This metabolite library contains short, medium and long chain, unsaturated and branched fatty acids. Please contact us for an up-to-date list.

Fatty acids and their functions

Fatty acids are the building blocks of fat in the body and have many functions including as structural parts of the cell membrane. Fatty acids synthesize prostaglandin an important cell signaling molecule. Thromboxanes (which regulate blood clotting) and Leukotrienes (important in immune function) are made from the precursor arachidonic acid. Omega-3 and omega-6 help regulate cholesterol and blood clotting and control inflammation in the joints, tissues, and bloodstream.

Because of their importance, research has intensified in recent years. More advanced research and persistent hard work from healthcare professionals, including metabolomic studies, will have a huge impact in the discovery and diagnosis of fatty acid metabolite-related diseases.

Preparation Instructions The fatty acid compounds in this metabolite library can either be injected individually or a strategy may be employed to pool compounds to allow multiple mixture to be analyzed per injection. For more information, please refer to the Product Sheet.

Storage/Stability Recommended storage once solubilized at –20 °C, long-term at –80 °C; protected from moisture and light. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
