New anti-Substance P antibody, ideally suited for IHC applications

Our family of antibodies to neuropeptides welcomes its newest member, a Guinea pig polyclonal antibody to Substance P. This antibody shows no cross-reactivity to the closely related neurokinin A, neurokinin B, or the unprocessed precursor protein. Substance P, also termed SP or NK1, belongs to the tachykinin neuropeptide family. It is widely distributed throughout the central and peripheral nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord, nerve fibers and endocrine cells of the gastrointestinal tract where it is involved in nociception and pain transmission.

Indirect immunostaining of PFA fixed mouse spinal cord section (dorsal horn) with Guinea pig anti-Substance P (cat. no. 459 005, dilution 1:500; red). Nuclei have been visualized by DAPI staining (blue).

Anti-human CD68 rat monoclonal antibody

CD68, also called Lamp-4 in humans or macrosialin in mice, is a frequently used marker for macrophages and activated microglia cells. High CD68 expression is detected in cells of the mononuclear phagocyte lineage including macrophages, osteoclasts, and myeloid dendritic cells. This antibody is specific for human CD68 and without cross-reactivity to murine CD68. It shows outstanding performance in ICC and IHC-P (FFPE) applications.

Immunohistochemical doublestaining for macrophage markers in formalin fixed paraffin embedded human tonsil with rat anti-human CD68 (cat. no. HS-460 017, dilution 1:100; red) and rabbit anti-hu/ms/rt IBA1 (HS-234 008, dilution 1:500; green) reveals expected co-localization of CD68 and IBA1 in human macrophages. Nuclei have been counterstained with DAPI (blue).

Rat monoclonal anti-CD11b antibody

The next interesting rat monoclonal antibody I would like to introduce is directed against CD11b (also called ITCAM). The upregulation of this protein on resident alveolar macrophages is a marker for acute and chronic lung inflammation in mice. In the brain, CD11b is also significantly increased upon microglial activation.

Immunohistochemical staining of formalin fixed paraffin embedded sections of a human lung with rat anti-CD11b (cat. no. HS-384 017, dilution 1:100; DAB). Nuclei have been counterstained with haematoxylin (blue).

We would like to highlight 2 new recombinant antibodies here, first, the new recombinant rabbit anti-neuroligin 2 antibody, an excellent marker for inhibitory synapse. This antibody is a chimeric antibody based on the monoclonal mouse antibody clone 5E6. The constant regions of the heavy and light chains have been replaced by rabbit specific sequences ("species-switched"). Therefore, the antibody can be used with standard anti-rabbit secondary reagents.
Then I would like to introduce the recombinant antibody against Trim 46, also called TRIFIC. This protein localizes to newly specified axons and, at later stages, to the axon initial segment (AIS). By forming closely spaced parallel microtubule bundles it plays a crucial role in the initial polarization of neuronal cells. With this rabbit monoclonal antibody, you have more flexibility in planning your co-staining experiments.
