Tumor-Associated Antigens (TAA) refers to a type of protein antigen found on the surface of or within the tumor cells of cancer patients. A large number of studies have shown that TAA is closely related to the occurrence and development of tumors. These antigens are usually not expressed or have very limited expression in normal tissues, but are highly expressed in tumor tissues.
There are many types of TAA, the common ones are as follows:
1. Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG): HCG is a fetal protein that can be used to diagnose, treat and monitor a variety of cancers.
2. Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA): PSA is a protein mainly secreted by prostate tissue and is a marker of prostate cancer.
3. Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA): CEA is a glycoprotein that is mainly distributed in tissues such as the gastrointestinal tract and pancreas and can be used to diagnose, treat and monitor a variety of cancers. 4. Alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP): AFP is a fetal protein that is mainly distributed in the fetal liver and intestines. It can also be used for the diagnosis and treatment monitoring of liver cancer.
