Problems with P2Y12 receptor staining - try our new mouse monoclonal antibody

P2Y12 receptor (P2RY12) is a Gi – coupled purinoceptor and is of particular relevance for microglia in the central nervous system. It is highly expressed in processes and somata of surveilling microglia and plays a major role in microglial chemotaxis in response to local CNS injury. The expression is downregulated when microglia are activated and become disease-associated-microglia (DAMs).

P2Y12 receptor is one of the most accepted microglia-specific markers used to distinguish CNS-resident microglia from CNS-associated macrophages (CAMs) and infiltrating monocytes/macrophages. In the periphery, P2Y12 receptor is expressed in platelets and is a well-known biological target for anti-thrombotic drugs. This antibody displays superior results in IHC and IHC-P applications, even in high dilutions.

New Guinea pig polyclonal antibody against GLP-1

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is an amidated 30- or non-amidated 31-amino-acid-long peptide hormone deriving from the tissue-specific posttranslational processing of the proglucagon peptide. It is produced and secreted by intestinal enteroendocrine L-cells and certain neurons within the nucleus of the solitary tract in the brainstem upon food consumption. Alongside glucose-dependent insulinotropic peptide (GIP), GLP-1 is an incretin; thus, it has the ability to decrease blood sugar levels in a glucose-dependent manner by enhancing the secretion of insulin. Beside the insulinotropic effects, GLP-1 has been associated with numerous regulatory and protective effects (like e.g. inhibiting bone resorption and supporting memory formation). This peptide hormone is one of the hottest candidates for pharmacotherapies to treat obesity and diabetes.

The specificty of this antibody was tested in dot blot, it selectively detects both GLP-1 forms, but not GLP-2 or glucagon.

Now available-rabbit polyclonal antibody perfect for recognizing CaBP5 in IHC applications

Calcium binding protein 5 (CaBP 5) belongs to a subfamiliy of neuronal Ca2+ binding proteins (CaBP 1-5) that show a high similarity to Calmodulin. It is expressed in rod and cone bipolar cells of the retina and cochlea inner hair cells of the ear. CaBPs are involved in the modulation of voltage gated calcium channels, TRP channels and inositol1,4,5-triphosphate (IP3) receptors. A CaBP 5 K.O. model suggests that this Ca-binding protein is involved in the rod-mediated response across the retina.
